About Alex

Alex holds MA degrees in English Composition (2021, San Francisco State) and Communication Studies (2018, San Jose State). Her academic interests include critical pedagogy, teaching first year composition, and incorporating principles of social justice in the classroom. She is a firm believer in improving access to higher education for marginalized and under-served populations, particularly for incarcerated, formerly incarcerated, and system-impacted students.

Alex works full time as a program director for UC Berkeley Extension’s Business and Management department. Additionally, she has been teaching with Mount Tamalpais College (formerly the Prison University Project) at San Quentin State Prison since 2018, and continues to teach classes in English and communication studies with the program. She is a lecturer faculty member at San Francisco State University, where she teaches English and business communication.
